*Shaykh Tawfique Chowdhury is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Mercy Mission,
which is now considered to be one the world’s fastest growing Muslim social
entreprises. Its premier program is the AlKauthar Institute [www.alkauthar.org],
established in 2005, growing from the UK delivering weekend Islamic Courses to
professionals and public across the Western world and has now reached in places
like India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia, arguably, it is on its way to
become one of the largest Muslim educational initatives in the world.
Tawfique is a Medical Doctor by profession from Australia but who has also been
classically trained in Islamic Theology from the Islamic University of Madinah
specialising in Islamic finance, personal law and Islamic Medical Ethics, thus
given his unique position, his thoughts and opinions have made him a prolific
sought after speaker and contributor to both mainstream media as well as various
Islamic TV Channels worldwide and conferences. He has also ran a successful
multinational IT company, and is a corporate trainer and business coach to many
successful people worldwide. Currently he resides, in Australia with his
wife and children teaching Islamic knowledge whilst caring to his patients
as a local Doctor.

and voluntary donations collected in the UK for the benefit of local
UK deserving recipients. This group includes some of the most vulnerable
members of our community, including widows, orphans, refugees, the

In this lecture, Shaykh Tawfique Chowdhury* will be reminding us the
importance of Ramadan and discussing the concept of wealth as a means of
nurturing justice in Islam within Islamic principles and ethics.
